Submissions Requested

We are accepting submissions at this time of new musicals for our Monthly Reading Series. It is an opportunity for The Writers to see/hear the musical ‘on its feet’, obtain valuable feedback and advice on moving it forward, as well as be considered for future workshops and/or productions of the musical at The WorkShop Theatre Company.

Our submission policies are below:

  • We accept submissions of smaller sized musicals, casts of 10 or less.
  • We accept book driven musicals. No revues, song cycles, no operas. In addition, we are not accepting children’s theatre pieces at this time
  • We accept most any subject matter, drama or comedy/farce, but always prefer musicals that make us care about the subject matter and/or the main character or characters.

Writers/composers-lyricists, please submit:

  • The first 25 pages of your script.
  • A one-page synopsis of the libretto.
  • A CD consisting of not more than 5 songs which best represents the piece.
  • Any biographical and contact information on the creative team.
  • A self-addressed manuscript-size stamped envelope for the return of your script/music in the event we choose not to go further with your piece. We recycle materials otherwise. We do not offer feedback on materials returned, except in rare occasions where we would request a resubmission after some rewrites.

If we choose to go further with your project, we will contact you.
