Won first Julio T. Nunez Artists Grant, Arts & Letters Award In Drama, and most recently, an Artists Grant from the German government to develop his play, God In Bed (presented for a 3 day staged reading at the Workshop). . Won and finalist in over 40 national playwriting competitions including The 3 Genres (3 times), Actors Theater Louisville, Bloomington Playwriting, Pittsburgh New Works, Samuel French, Weissberger,Tennessee Williams, others. His plays were selected to be in 12 separate "Best Play Anthologies"
"Coulda-Woulda-Shoulda" been the "model of a 10 minute play", in the widely used Prentice Hall College textbook, "The Three Genres, The Writing of Poetry, Fiction and Drama" Also in that book are model plays by Edward Albee and William Sarroyan.
5 plays were Actors Theater of Louisville, Humana Festival, finalists.
Author 24 best selling theater books, including 9 books of original monologues. All books sold internationally and multiple printings.The Pain In The Poetry, performed at Workshop, in "The Best 10 Minute Plays of 2009" (Smith and Kraus). AFTER, performed at Workshop, in "The Best 10 Minute Plays of 2011" (Smith and Kraus). "Second Tiers", developed at Workshop, "The Best 10 Minute Plays of 2012".
Plays performed at Primary Stages, EST, Circle in The Square Downtown, West Bank Cafe Downstairs Theater, HERE, LaMama, at the Duplex, Playwrights Horizons, others.
